Claude Johnson is not a scam

July 7th, 2009

Anyone who knows the intricacies of a new business, especially that first critical year, is aware of how a small error, an unwise hiring choice or underestimating the power of his product can set the stage for bad publicity.  There are times when the business takes off, has a great few months of unanticipated profits and the business owner becomes too comfortable in the marketing efforts required to sustain a successful business.  It’s common to find a misguided sense of success and the belief one can rest on his laurels after those first glorious months.  Still, there are those who recognize the importance of hard work and know nothing less than a consistent business plan will allow their business to continue its growth and allow it to flourish.  Perhaps it’s more of the latter that drove Claude Johnson and his guitar lessons business.  Even with the hard work, a great formula that ensured a steady growth and a strong sense of responsibility to his clients, something still went wrong.

After an in-depth look of not only went wrong, but how it snowballed, Johnson was forced to reassess his formula.  It’s a difficult process, to say the least.  Still, Johnson was determined to not make the same mistakes that still haunt his successful business.

“I was new to the business aspect.  I took crash courses in internet marketing, tax laws, my responsibilities to my customers relating to my money back guarantee approach and countless other areas of the logistics any small business owner must know.  All I knew was I had a passion for music and after years of everyone telling me it was time to market my skills, I decided to take that plunge.  There were several customers who’d purchased one or more of my DVD series and decided to return them.  Since I had a money back guarantee, their expectations were absolutely reasonable.  Unfortunately, I had relied on a few outsourced clerks to ensure the refunds were provided in a timely manner.  It wasn’t until the stories began circulating did I realize the question of whether or not Claude Johnson is a scam was being asked.  Needless to say, I was embarrassed and more than a little upset.  I immediately took measures to change the way these refunds were handled.  It’s my belief I’ve provided refunds for anyone who asked and if there remains any who feel they weren’t treated fairly, I still stand behind my guarantee.  If there is anyone who wishes to return their DVD collections, they have my personal promise of a fast turnaround in terms of a refund.  No questions asked.  It was a lesson learned the hard way and my biggest regret is that I lost the faith of too many customers.”
