Canadian Immigration Law Firm Canadim Launches New Site

October 17th, 2009

Dery & Associates is a Montreal based immigration law firm that has recently made major changes in an effort to upgrade their site Candim.com.  After months of extensive research and development, they have officially launched their new website. Already established as one of the top Canadian Immigration law firms they have made their site faster, made major design upgrades as well as significant improvements to their visa assessment procedure.

“We have worked with a team of professionals to come up with a design and interface which is cutting edge in terms of design and functionality.  In today’s world, we wanted to make sure that we were leaders and not followers when it came to establishing an online presence. We want to emphasize direct contact with the clients and personalized service while balancing the many advantages of internet technology.  Our new site allows for that in a way they won’t find with any other firm.” says Renaud Dery, managing partner. He goes on to explain that the way the industry is setup at the moment, most Canadian immigration websites are not using the internet to its fullest potential.  With their new site, they’ve simplified things to the point where viewers don’t have to be tech savvy to find what they’re looking for and fill out their visa assessment.

The assessment forms cover each of the major Canadian immigration visas.  Users will receive information about all of them in a simple yet detailed manner before being brought to the assessment most appropriate to their situation. “We have lawyers on standby ready to answer questions and help people through their process; we hold their hand the entire way through which is something most law firms could not promise.” says executive director Richard Dery.  He goes onto explain that viewers have the ability to fill out a visa assessment form for free which will then be sent to a lawyer who will personally review their information.

With the growing number of people immigrating to Canada, Canadim has taken steps to further establish themselves as not only one of the top Canadian Immigration law firms, but also one of the most technologically integrated by maximizing the use of the internet thus making the process faster, cheaper and much easier. Not only that, but their site is constantly upgrading in response to the changing habits of the viewers as well as the changing laws.  “This is the third generation of the site, we learned from experience that what people are looking for is personalized service.  Our new business model allows for potential clients to get well informed through the site, submit an assessment, and then get real life personalized service from an immigration lawyer. We’re ready to serve them in a professional and cost effective manner.”

Building better building blocks…the kind that will withstand storms and make our parents and grand parents proud. An initiative that is needed.

This initiative will help families that have had their homes foreclosed on within the past two years get back on track to a brighter tomorrow for themselves and their families.

Understanding why the market crashed is one thing, having an even greater understanding of what it will take to make it better and putting this into place in our communities is what we as mortgage and real estate professionals should be willing to do.

The EOTM’s Real Estate Group Community Initiative will help Families find quality homes to rent or lease for a 12 – 24 month period. Within that time frame these families will work hand and hand with Credit Coaches to help put them back on track to homeownership, the right way. CasteWatchUK under attack from Hindu Council UK for leading Equality Campaign

March 12th, 2008

CasteWatchUK and Dalit Solidarity Network UK, have been targeted by Hindu Council UK using fabricated allegations in their report “The Caste System” authored by DR R P Sharma. The sole aim of this report seems to be derailing the process of inclusion of “caste” in the single equality bill currently going through parliament. Mr Satpal Muman, Chairman and Mr Davinder Prasad, General Secretary of CasteWatchUK in their joint statement express their resentment and condemn Hindu Council UK for the accusations in its report that “CasteWatchUK’s intention appears to be to make money and create further divisions in society” whereas in fact the opposite is the case. “The HCUK by presenting the Statement from the Shri Guru Valmik Sabha Southall are guilty of mischief and the Sabha is guilty of a collusion”.

HCUK has tried to justify its position on the foundations of the Caste System with respect to their religion, accept that it plays an important part in regulating the social life of the Indian Diaspora in Britain and has also acknowledged its global implications by including Christianity, Islam, and Sikhism as the other infected religions. The report has a Brahminist bias and attempts to lay the blame for the incipient form of Caste Practices at the feet of foreigners – foreign invasions and foreign agencies. This is not the first time this argument is presented where foreigners are blamed for the country’s ills. However, the report is extremely low on admitting that the Hindus had anything to do with the Caste System despite ample evidence to the contrary found in the Hindu Sacred Literature. The Report manifestly contradicts itself in numerous places. HCUK report also over-emphasises the fact “giving priorities to Dalit means those from higher castes are now complaining that even if they score highly in their entrance exams, they cannot get places”. This statement has no relevance to the caste situation in the UK and serves no purpose other than importing caste prejudice and casteist euphoria from India into the minds of young British Asians in this country. “Younger generations of communities, that are victims of caste discrimination in the UK, have proved all “Hindu Theories” wrong.

Given equal opportunities in education, the right environment to learn and availability of financial means, they have demonstrated that they can achieve new heights in their lives without any reservation in schools, universities or employment. It is very worrying that the Hindu Council has chosen not to recognise this phenomenon, learn from it and make use of these success stories to educate ill-informed Hindus in India and here in the UK”. CasteWatchUK has also been accused by HCUK of misleading the political classes in Britain which imply that political classes are gullible. “It is very unfortunate and makes us feel sad that decades of exposure to British values has not been able to rid the rigid mind set of members of the Hindu Council UK of caste prejudice.”

CasteWatchUK in its response through a letter to Dr J C Sharma, Chairman and Director of Human Rights, has suggested that HCUK needs to reconsider their position on caste discrimination in the UK. “Instead of pointing blaming fingers at others, we urge you to join us, the victim communities, the host community, politicians, social institutions and academics in the UK in taking appropriate actions to root out this social evil from British Society before it is too late. Our communities in the UK consider themselves to be fortunate and liberated and it feels great to be living in a free, fair and civilised democracy. We are sure that you would agree with us on this, otherwise most of the members of the Hindu Council UK would not be living here. Please support us in our efforts to get the legislation on equality amended and to make caste discrimination unlawful in the UK. We are confident that your support of our cause would demonstrate to Hindus in the UK and around the world that we are all equals and would be a giant step in ensuring that people feel proud to be Hindus. It would also send signals all over the world that time has come for a global action to put an end to centuries of disadvantages and oppression faced by lower caste Hindus in the name of the caste system across the world.”

Have you had your ‘Polzoo’ today?

New generation grassroots political editorial and social network gathers attention

As sparks continue to fly on the political stage during this eventful primary season, the cyber world of the pundit blogosphere is pulsing with activity following every debate, election and every piece of gossip. In the past two years, the politicized internet has been dominated by blog sites such as Dailykos.com, popular with the Liberal crowd, and Townhall.com which serves the needs of the Conservative blogger. Other large budget news blogs such as Politico.com and Huffingtonpost.com also cast a long shadow over their share of the blogosphere.

It is in this shadow that a small but tenacious grassroots blog seeks to stake a claim. Polzoo.com bills itself as ‘a social networking center for political participation, debate and action’. Despite a long winded and seemingly banal self-description, the site itself actually offers quite a bit of entertainment for your average political junkie. Launched in early February of 2008, owner Frederick Kuo envisioned a non-partisan site where bloggers of all stripes and colors can come together to discuss and debate issues. “I wanted to combine the traditional online political editorial and blog with the functions of myspace”, says Kuo, a local Sacramento crepe shop owner, enthusiastically of the project. Despite only being in operation for a mere three weeks, Polzoo already has a group of regular contributors who act as featured columnists on the front page. True to form, the political affiliations are divided evenly between three liberals, three conservatives and one independent. The featured columnists were hand picked from the blogosphere by Kuo who reveals, “I was looking for columnists who represented the average joe, rather than those who already had connections… and they also needed to be passionate”. And passionate they are, already some blogs have generated fiery reactions from other members. In response to a liberal columnist who writes that adherence to diversity was what historically made America great, a conservative member argues the opposite and charges “and the Liberals keep fiddling while Rome burns… they were the ones who let the Huns in”.

Free advertising for social causes

In addition to being a full fledged grassroots political blog and social networking site, Polzoo has also begun a program to help non-profit organizations by permanently giving free advertising on the front page for a different cause on a weekly basis. “My goal was to use this site not only to spur political thought and debate, but also to allow important social issues of our day to gain greater exposure”, says Kuo of the Polzoo non-profit organization program. Although clearly, no organization has yet to apply, the program statement advises organizations to submit their banners to be featured and to create a blog detailing the importance of the cause they are involved in.

Navigating throughout the site, I found the setup intuitive and easy to use. However, it is clear that as a young site, there are still a few kinks here and there to work out. The profile function could be refined a bit more in order to create an easier flow for those who want to surf portfolios. The private messaging system is not very intuitive, and could be integrated better with the community database. I am told, however, that these bugs are to be worked out in the coming months as the site continues to grow. “I am focusing on providing quality content and substance first, and then everything will come together”, asserts Kuo confidently on the direction of the site.

So have you had your ‘Polzoo’ today? Perhaps not, but as interest in this grassroots political site grows, growing numbers of individuals will increasingly have Polzoo with their morning coffee.
