Kapsys, a specialist in portable GPS devices, has launched the Kapten  for iPhone application, a comprehensive navigation application for use with the iPhone, and Kapten NG, the smallest pocket-size multi-transport GPS device on the market.

Following the successful launch of Kapten, the first voice-controlled GPS for use in cities, Kapsys is extending its range of GPS products with its Kapten for iPhone application and its portable Kapten NG. Thanks to this new range of products, Kapsys is extending its multi-transport GPS product offer, helping users find their way around cities whether on foot, or by public transport, car, bicycle or motorcycle. Kapsys’s products offer extensive coverage of North America, as well as Western Europe.

For the first time on the market, Kapsys is offering an iPhone navigation application at a highly competitive price. Since such an application is not necessarily required every day, Kapten for iPhone is available on the basis of a monthly subscription rate at $7.99 for unlimited use over a 30-day period, which can be renewed at will. Kapten for iPhone also offers the option of transferring to a permanent license via the in-application purchase mechanism, for $74.99.

Kapsys has also launched the innovative Kapten NG, the smallest pocket-size multi-transport GPS device on the market. Because of its compact size (H100 mm x L55 mm x W13 mm) and weight (90 g), the Kapten NG can be carried inside the user’s pocket. Its multi-transport functionality is suitable for navigation on foot, with or without the use of public transport, as well as driving or cycling.

The Kapten for iPhone application is on sale as of today through Apple’s online iTunes App Store. Two versions are available: one for the United States/Canada and one for Western Europe. These applications will turn any 3G or 3GS iPhone into a true multi-transport navigator, usable in a multitude of geographic areas.

The main functionalities offered by this application include multi-transport navigation, unique coverage of public transport (underground, suburban trains and trams), genuine voice guidance and extensive visual displays, and “Ktag” creation for tagging and sharing favorite locations.

The Kapten for iPhone North America application includes a map of the U.S. and Canada. It costs $7.99 for a monthly subscription and $74.99 for a permanent license.

The Kapten for iPhone Western Europe application covers 22 countries and territories – Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the Vatican. It costs $7.99 for a renewable monthly subscription and $74.99 for a permanent license.

Kapten NG offers the following functionalities: multi-transport navigation in a pocket-size format, unique coverage of public transport (underground, suburban trains and trams), which can be used with pedestrian navigation, genuine voice guidance and extensive visual displays, and Ktag creation to record favorite locations. Kapten NG has been available as of February 2010. Kapten NG North America includes a map of the USA and Canada and retails at $224.90.

The cartography behind these applications has been developed by TeleAtlas. The Kapten for iPhone application, as well as Kapten NG and Kapten models, are available for testing by members of the press.

Kapsys attended the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, from February 15 to 18, 2010 (Hall 2F49, France Pavilion); and will exhibit at CeBit in Hanover, Germany, from March 2 to 6, 2010 (Hall 7A10, France Pavilion).

The motto of their logo says it all. “Travel The World One Channel at a Time”.“We wanted the Skobos program to be interactive with each users personality in mind. From the see-through windows that matchup seamlessly for any desktop background image to the opportunity to control via real-time voting; what channels are kept and what ones are excluded becomes pure interactivity in any sense of the word.”

“The act of conversing with people half-a-world-away that may be watching the same channel you are, in real-time is amazing and offers as yet untapped opportunities that Skobos is uniquely poised for. The future of televisionis here and now.”

The FTA Satellite Radio Show

April 6th, 2008

### PRESS RELEASE : April 5, 2008 ###

“In it’s 5th month and The FTA Show is already being heard in South East Asia – Canada and New Zealand / Australia is nothing short of amazing!” stated Richard Buckner, host and producer of the new satellite show being heard up on Galaxy 25 as well as audio streams via the Internet. The show which is underwritten by DMS International a major wholesaler of FTA Satellite equipment is being aired via the ACCESS-AMERICA Satellite network. “We started out with just myself as host and now we have a Canadian Correspondent as well as a correspondent from New Zealand.” Buckner stated. “We just signed up Jerry Fisher a satellite specialist and long time FTA’er in Winnipeg, Canada and Tony Dunnett a New Zealander with years of FTA experience. Tony owns a Satellite company in New Zealand and Jerry one in Canada” Buckner reported. “Advertising is starting to come in with dealers in Georgia, Michigan, Iowa, Canada as well as DMSI USA in Georgia.” Buckner commented. “We even have received advertising requests from non-satellite related business” Buckner related.

The show a 2 hour long technical review of Free To Air Satellite equipment began in late December 2007. Buckner a Satellite Dealer and retired U.S. Marine discussed his show idea with Tim Heinrichs, CEO of DMS International worldwide distributors and manufacturers of the SG 2100 Satellite Motor, Trimax Satellite Meters, Traxis line of satellite receivers and JSC line of satellite LNB’s. Mr. Heinrichs agreed to underwrite the show for the 1st month to see the response it would receive on the air. Mr. Heinrichs stated “The FTA Show is a well rounded and polished assembly of news and tips for end users, installers, dealers, and anyone with an interest in FTA satellite. Free satellite TV channels are discussed in detail from the hardware needed to the “how to’s”. This show could well be called “The truth about FTA Satellite”. If there was one thing missing from FTA satellite it was this show. Produced and hosted by radio personality Richard Buckner, the FTA Show brings knowledge to the FTA satellite user. DMS International is proud to sponsor and supporter of The FTA Show.”

When asked what was in the future for the FTA Show Buckner responded, “We are planning soon a 30 minute television show to be seen on satellite and via TV IP ( Internet Protocol ) and we are going to expand our correspondents with European and the Middle East and Asia. We already have a Asian correspondent lined up as well as a correspondent from Great Britain. The Middle East correspondent is a bit elusive but we are certain we will find one soon, we are also in the developing stages of a new web site for the show”

In addition to the show Buckner also provides video/audio television content to New Zealand though the use of a high tech device called a HAVA. The HAVA Buckner explains the HAVA device. “It allows us to stream in MPEG4 Video content across the Internet anywhere in the world” Buckner’s other company called The Movie Crypt provides over 6700 DVD’s – VHS and Betas videos in the way of movies and classic television series that have entered the Public Domain realm.

The FTA Show can be heard on the Access-America.Net Radio Network on Galaxy 25 on 12.115 V 22.472. On Saturday’s at 3:00 PM EST and rebroadcast Sunday’s at 11:00 AM and through the week at 12:00 (Noon). It is also simulcast on streaming audio on the following web sites.
