Setting the Standards in Funfair Safety

January 30th, 2009

JARM Amusements have just released details of a new initiative they are launching to improve upon the already impressive safety record of the UK’s funfair industry. From 1st February they will be subjecting their electrical appliances to 6 monthly Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) to ensure absolute safety at their events. Additionally they will be insisting that other operators attending their events will have to comply with the same scheme.

Company spokesman Arthur Newsome stated that “ The funfair industry in this country has an excellent safety record, due in part to the rigorous annual tests that all attractions are subject to.  We have decided to build upon this and combine the funfair industry standard inspections with a  series of portable appliance tests carried out at 6 monthly intervals which is double the industry standard.”
He went on to explain that they had purchased PAT testing equipment and embarked on a scheme to have key personnel trained in their use, allowing regular in house testing to be carried out.  “We feel that by combining both schemes and decreasing the time between inspections we are setting new standards in our industry. For the ultimate in safety, we will be quite happy to test our attractions before a clients event to offer absolute peace of mind.”

Portable appliance testing, or PAT testing as it is commonly known is a standard in use throughout most industries, but not required of the fairground industry which must comply with the Amusement Device Inspection Procedure Scheme known as ADIPS which in most of its requirements is far more stringent than the regular PAT testing regime used by other industries.

The funfair industry is already one of the safest passenger carrying industries in the U.K. Official Health and Safety statistics point out that;
You are 12 times more likely to be injured on the way to the fair, than injured at the fair.
A pessimistic estimate is that you have a 1 in 83 million chance of being seriously injured or killed at the fair.
Obviously whilst these statistics are impressive, especially when compared to many other industries, there is always something more that can be done, and only by constant vigilance and improvement will this safety record be maintained.
Additional Information;
Jason AR Moody Amusements are owned by a family of 5th generation showmen, the company has moved from traditional fairgrounds into the corporate entertainment arena. Working for clients ranging from couples tying the knot to multinational banking organisations, they supply anything from a stick of candy floss to a complete funfair.

AMCC’S Icing Plates Hold Parts for Machining Securely with the Power of Ice (Z002)

AMCC’S ICING PLATES CLAMP PARTS SECURELY WITH THE POWER OF ICE

Ideal for Sintered Materials, Unfired Ceramic, Ferrite, and Graphite

Chicago, January 27, 2009 (word count: 403)
An ice cube tray stuck in the freezer or frost holding wipers to windshields on winter mornings show the strong adhesive power of ice. AMCC used this concept to develop the GF Series Icing Plates. These plates use the power of ice to hold parts for milling, turning, or grinding. This new clamping system is rigid, stess-free on the part, holds parts on a single face, fast and easy to use, and clamps limitless shapes and materials.

Icing plates are particularly effective for machining: sintered materials, unfired ceramic (“green”), ferrite, graphite, and more (see photo 3). Ice is an excellent adhesive that can grip also any material, rigid (metal, plastic) or flexible (rubber, neoprene, textile). On metals, ice has a tensile strength of 214 lbs./sq. in., compared to magnets (170 lbs./sq.in) or a vacuum (14 lbs./sq. in.). It has the additional advantage, when it melts, of being reversible and leaving no residues.

Using these icing plates removes the need for costly, specific assemblies. No more distortion and breakage due to clamping and/or unclamping. Whatever their shape, fragile parts are held firmly in place and without stress. The parts held by only one face allows machining access to five faces. For plastics, freezing increases its rigidity, and thus improves surface condition.

Plate cooling is achieved by means of a patented compressed-air heat exchanger. On some models, the assembly is driven by a temperature-control pneumatic system. By utilizing the thermal inertia of the icing plate, this control system also conserves compressed air.

Thanks to its compact,  mono-block design, GF icing plates are quickly installed. Simply connect the apparatus to the compressed air system, spray water onto the icing plate, and position the part to be machined. Then activate the temperature control button. Within seconds the water freezes and the part is clamped. Unclamping is done just as fast by reversing the freeze/thaw valve.

What’s more, Z-axis repeatability depends only on the surface of congelation because there is no water thickness under the part. Because the plate evacuates the calories generated by machining, standard lubrication is no longer necessary.

Originally designed to meet the rigorous demands of the space industry, AMCC’s icing plates have since become a necessity in all fiels that manufacture delicate parts including medical (IOLs), electronics (ferrites), watch-making, jewelry, and more. AMCC has several models of GF series icing plates available, according to use, and can customize a solution based on customers’ needs.

No Bah Humbug for Real Estate Investors, Over $27,000 Raised for Children’s Hospital

January 28th, 2009

San Diego, CA January 12, 2008RealEstateInvestor.com (REI) announced that over the holidays it partnered with Teamwork Ventures (VirtualBirdDogBlueprint.com, TeamworkLeadSystem.com) to raise $27,645.00 for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org). Titled as The Real Estate Investing Big Give, this charitable endeavor was a result of the coordinated efforts of Andy Proper of Teamwork Ventures and Colin Egbert of RealEstateInvestor.com.

Beginning on November 28 and ending on December 23, 2008, the goal of The Big Give was to raise $25,000 for pediatric treatment and research for children at St. Jude’s Research Hospital located in Memphis, Tennessee. 28 real estate educators (also known as “gurus”) collaborated by sending at least two emails to individuals on their contact lists and asking them to donate to the Big Give charity. Based upon those initial emails, 723 donors emerged with one donor contributing over $5,000 to the charity.

I saw an opportunity to leverage the tremendous “buzz” and marketing power of the Internet to create some serious good.  I also saw it as an opportunity to unite the real estate investing industry across the globe,” says Proper who sees investing as a powerful tool to support those in need. “There is not only the common goal of building wealth through the vehicle of real estate, but also giving back, adding more life to more people along the way.”

Egbert, CEO of RealEstateInvestor.com, is equally passionate about giving. “Many of us strive to have a fat bank account, which is cool, however, true wealth is about the selfless acts we make every day that allow others to feel hope, joy and kindness. And the really incredible thing to me is that during these difficult economic times, our combined community of real estate investors opened their pocketbooks as well as their hearts to make a difference. That’s what we’re about; we want to change lives,” states Egbert.

St. Jude’s Associate Director, Kathleen P. Talbot expressed the hospital’s gratitude. “On behalf of our patients and their families, I would like to thank RealEstateInvestor.com for their generosity.”

The Big Give was a major success not just for Teamwork Ventures, RealEstateInvestor.com as well as St. Jude’s, but it was the largest collective giveaway of free real estate education in the entire history of the real estate investing industry: the donors had an opportunity to win $148,000 in real estate education.

RealEstateInvestor.com (REI) is an online community network where members learn about the latest real estate investment resources and tools for unlimited financial success. With a community of over 27,000 investors, REI has a good pulse on the industry and is a major asset for any serious and savvy real estate investor.

NVHOST.com Supports Retired Football Greats

January 23rd, 2009

The big game is just around the corner and it is a time of year that we are all reminded of the great professional football history our nation has.  However, when the games end and the lights turn off, what happens to our heroes from years gone by?  Lucky retired football players go on to broadcasting careers, start their own companies, or become sales or spokespeople.  Other players just fade into their lives and are forced to deal with debilitating injuries suffered during their playing days; the less fortunate players living in relative poverty and many without proper medical coverage.  These players have given so much to us that it is now time for us to give back!
We are pleased to announce that NVHOST.com will donate 10% of any new projects, $999 or over, when customers enter “football heroes” on our website contact form or if potential customers tell us on the phone that they called to support retired football players and would like a portion of their project proceeds donated to retired professional football players.  This donation program will last through the end of February, 2009.  We will also have links on our site to professional football charities if you would like to directly make a donation to these organizations to support their causes without starting a project.
NVHOST.com, a Phoenix, Arizona based company, is a full service web development company focused on building custom internet solutions for our clients at very affordable prices.  Our company offers custom website design, web hosting, search engine optimization, and many other services detailed at www.nvhost.com with a focus to exceed our customer’s expectations.  NVHOST.com was founded in 2000 and recent growth has created the opportunity for us to expand our team to include additional marketing and customer resources.  The new team now boasts a marketing director with an MBA in Marketing from the University of Minnesota and he has over 10 years of running multi-million dollar brands for major US companies that has worked with our country’s largest retailers during that time.  In terms of customer support, the recent addition to the company also has a decade of experience working for a major internet retailer and she will make sure your project is completed on time and as it was agreed to.
We have two main goals for this charity project.  The first is to raise awareness of the plight many retired professional football players suffer from because many of our proud football heroes suffer in silence.  Secondly, we hope to raise money to be part of the solution to this challenge.  How can we help increase profits for your business while we give back to the NFL greats that gave so much to all of us?  Please visit our site contact us today at www.nvhost.com or call us at 866-469-4678.  While the big game will be played on the field on February 1, 2009, the biggest game for retired professional football players is being played in homes around the country every day!  Please keep these retired players in your thoughts and prayers and as we try to raise money to make a small impact in their lives.  Retired professional football players have entertained and inspired us for years on Sunday and it is now time to return the favor!

New customer management initiative for Africa

January 23rd, 2009

African entrepreneurs and practitioners are to be helped to build more profitable and lasting customer relationships. Adaptation is collaborating with the Institute of Customer Management in Accra, Ghana in a new initiative to help local practitioners review and improve how they manage their relationships with customers.

According to Adaptation’s chairman, Prof. Colin Coulson-Thomas “While newspaper headlines highlight Africa’s problems many of its emerging businesses, and its 900 million consumers, represent a frontier of opportunity for ambitious businesses. If they are to prosper and become competitive internationally local professionals and entrepreneurs need to engage with customers in ways that deliver service, value and mutually beneficial outcomes.”

“Value creation starts with the aspirations and needs of customers. Suppliers need to engage with customers to ensure their requirements are understood and addressed. Increasingly, this means working with them rather than selling to them. It means helping them to understand their needs and available options, and making it easier for them to buy and receive appropriate after sales support. It can mean learning with customers and developing bespoke solutions.”

“Effective customer management, and supporting those in the front line who are responsible for managing the relationship with customers, is a critical success requirement. The approaches of customer management teams that succeed in building long term and profitable relationships with customers are very different from those of teams that struggle and fail. To raise their game, ambitious practitioners need to understand what the high performers do differently.”

While the new collaboration is aiming to address a variety of development needs, its initial focus will upon two groups: entrepreneurs and those who are in or seeking managerial roles; and those who wish to become customer management professionals. Subject to local demand, courses at certificate level will be offered at convenient times during the day, while diploma candidates will be able to study their course modules in evening and weekend streams.

The Institute of Customer Management is based in Accra, Ghana. Its mission is to inspire excellence in customer management. The Institute is collaborating with UK based Adaptation Ltd which helps people and organisations adapt to changing aspirations, requirements and conditions. Details of the company’s support activities can be found on http://www.adaptation.ltd.uk

The new customer management initiative will draw upon a series of briefings that examine different aspects of customer management and recent projects to support those with responsibility for building mutually beneficial and lasting relationships with customers. The 28 briefings in ‘Close to the Customer’ series and related bespoke benchmarking reports can be ordered from http://www.policypublications.com

Over 2,000 companies have participated in Prof. Coulson-Thomas’ research programme which examines what the most successful people, teams and companies do differently in areas such as building relationships with customers. Reports setting out identified critical success factors and his book Winning Companies; Winning People which summarises the findings about what high performers do differently can also be obtained from: http://www.policypublications.com

Professor Colin Coulson-Thomas, Chairman of Adaptation is an experienced consultant, author of ‘Winning Companies; Winning People’, and consultant editor of the ‘Close to the Customer’ series of briefings on customer management. He has reviewed the processes and practices of over 100 companies, helped over 100 boards to improve board and/or corporate performance, and spoken at over 200 national, international and corporate conferences in 35 countries. He can be contacted via http://www.coulson-thomas.com

Flash Drive Memory cost jumps 87% in the past 2 weeks

January 21st, 2009

USB flash drive manufacturer Blue Loyal, has seen price increases from its flash drive memory suppliers Samsung and Hynix explode by nearly double in the past 14 days. Company spokesperson, John Graham, states “We have not seen price spikes like this in nearly 18 months”.

Flash drive memory chip suppliers are fighting back from their strategy of buying market share. The extreme price decline seen during the past 9 months that was the spearhead of the drive to corner market share has nearly broken the fiscal backs of the major flash drive chip suppliers.

The collusion between the major chip makers to increase their market share through price cuts failed to produce the results that the chip makers anticipated. This failure to deliver a knockout blow to the minor market chipmakers has prompted the flash drive chip manufacturers, Samsung, Hynix and Intel to reverse course and drive prices back up through the reduction of their manufacturing capacity.

John Graham of Blue Loyal flash drives declares “ For the past year we saw a reasonable and steady decline in the prices of flash drive memory from Samsung, Hynix and others. These savings allowed us to pass the new lower prices along to our customers. Now we have had to change prices on a daily basis by as much as 3-5%, in the past 2 weeks prices on some sizes of flash memory have risen by as much as 87%. We expect the price increases to come to a halt when Chinese New Year takes place next week but we have no idea as to what the price are expected to be after the Chinese national holiday”.

Flash drives are the #3 selling item in the U.S. and European promotional products market. Sales to the promotional products marketplace are expected to top 3 Billion USD in 2009. Combined retail and promotional logo flash drive sales are expected to reach 10 Billion USD in 2009. If the current price increase to flash drive chips stays steady it is expected that the overall market valuation could increase by 9% to the above stated figures.

Blue Loyal is a North American based company with flash drive manufacturing facilities in Shenzen China. Blue Loyal and its brand Flash Drive Direct are one of North America’s leading suppliers of flash drives to the promotional products industry.

Anne Niccoli on 2009 Fashion Trends and the Color Black in Your Closet

January 20th, 2009

I am very excited to be able to bring you the newest, trendy clothing news from the hottest designers.  We also focus on handbags and accessories to make sure you have the latest news to hit the fashion scene. At www.shopbeenvied.com, we have the opportunity to review the hottest fashion well in advance of the items ending up in retail stores and I would like to share that information so that your clothes hit exactly the right fashion note.  I personally review and select the brands and items that best fit the trends like Melie Bianco handbags, new Sinful clothing, or the latest Affliction creations.  I am committed to communicate where the fashion world is headed and will regularly share that information so that you can buy the key pieces that will keep you on top of the trends and identify your seasonal must haves for 2009.

The Color Black! The question should be, why wear anything else? Black is easy, elegant, and subtle. Black is sexy and is dangerous. Black is sophisticated and tough. Black seduces, reduces, and wearing black has many advantages. It can be worn as a fashion statement such as a trendy Envy tee.  Just look through the fashion pages of any magazine and you will see brands such as Xtreme Couture fixated on the color black.  A new style usually comes in black and in every size but try buying pink in anything and you are limited to sizes that leave out woman that might not be as slender as they were when they were in their teens?   Black is easy to dress up.   Just add a nice scarf, stunning earrings, or a necklace from pearls to diamonds (and there are many types to choose from), or just an A.B Niccoli Piece. Dress it up with evening stilettos or accessorize with a new Ed Hardy Handbag.
Black and white is classic. Pink and black is dripping femininity. We spend so much time trying to not buy black, I love black and it is the number one 2009 color in my Colorado retail Boutique and online store www.shopbeenvied.com.   You can make a statement with a black Affliction or Sinful top. A black leather jacket quite clearly says don’t mess with me. A soft black cashmere jacket says I’m sexy, strong and feminine’.  Black fits everyone in every situation.

We are constantly evaluating new trends, products, and special pricing from vendors to bring the world the latest fashion information.  We update www.shopbeenvied.com with new products every week to keep you from making a fashion mistake.  Our goal is for you to be comfortable with what you wear regardless of your shape or size. We want you with the trend and not behind the trends!   It is that focus that motivates me to share fashion information and tips.  Be sure to subscribe to our blog and join our mailing list, so you can be notified when the fashion world changes as it often does on a moment’s notice.  We encourage you to post a comment on our site as we want to hear from you because customer comments are important and can be a key source of trend information from outside the fashion world.
Anne can be reached at her Flag Ship store in Colorado Be Envied 1-866-690-0913 for media interviews.

Catimini Childrenswear 2009 Best Ever Launch

January 16th, 2009

Balloons Childrenswear kicked off their new season ranges with Catimini. They “are launching the chromatic revolution! So they can live life in… Technicolor” according to Catimini’s own press release. Balloons, who provide one of the widest on line offers of the French children’s label, said “the response from customers over the first few days has been fantastic. It’s been our best ever launch with a very high uptake”.

When Balloons Childrenswear attended the buying session last year they were excited about the design and story lines, “we were excited when we bought it, but the real test is obviously whether our customer agree and only a few days in we’re seeing the orders come thick and fast”. Balloons said that Catimini has a very discerning customer following. At the start of each season we see customers come in who want to secure an entire range, but this years early response is significantly higher than any other season.

This seasons trends are 70′s Hippie inspired, the bohemian version. A tumble of tiers, patchwork florals, printed cashmere, fringes and long petticoats. Clean and vivid at the same time, trendy and sport chic, standard rules are turned on their head. Stripes, repeated text and pictograms are coming to give clothes form. Outdoor festival bringing the worlds of pop, rock and electro together. Outdoor festival is the urban nomad look with hybrid clothes, a re-coloured army jacket and amplified ‘cover’ volumes. African remix, a mixture of city and ethnic rules, a fusion of chic and nomad, an urban look crossbred to create the African remix trend. They are daring to put the boubou print onto structured shapes and decorative panels onto T-shirts. Art and fashion mix together. Prints take hold of master paintings to revisit them, outfits are woken up by the fluorescent and the flashy. Tachism and paint brush effects intermix to make each piece a work of art.

Catimini have supported the launch via their promotional catalogue images combining the models with clever graphics and use of vivid background colors.

Nottingham based Balloons, provide Catimini for both boys and girls from Newborn to 12 years. They tend to launch on line for pre-orders a few of weeks before the stock arrives and can be put into the shop.

Chicago, January 13, 2009 (word count: 471)
Specialist in the development and production of innovative compounds for health and cosmetics, LibraGen introduces of a new range of patented active compounds for dermocosmetic: Inoveol™.  This range includes nearly 50 natural polyphenols derived from plants and modified by green chemistry to make them highly stable, active, and water-soluble.

“Polyphenols are phyto-active molecules recognized by civilizations around the world for their health benefits: in green tea in Asia, in coffee in South America, or in olive oil or rosemary in Europe,” says Fabrice Lefèvre, LibraGen scientific director. “These naturally occurring active compounds, however, have the disadvantage of being unstable and not very water-soluble, which severely limits their use in cosmetic formulations. Our laboratories have succeeded in stabilizing and solubilizing, at very strong concentrations in water, an entire series of polyphenols by grafting a sugar by a bioprocess, generating pure active compounds of exceptional quality for skin care.”

The first six standard Inoveol™ active compounds were launched a few months ago on the European cosmetics market: caffeic acid glucoside, rosemarinic acidglucoside, epigallo catechin gallate glucoside,  oleuropein glucoside, phloridzine glucoside, and gallic acid glucoside. These compounds were Ecocert-approved and won great popularity among the players in the European cosmetics field. Designed to be natural and highly effective, Inoveol™ compounds uniquely combine the benefits of botanical tradition with the latest technological advances. They respond very precisely to the specifications of current trends and provide an immediate response to cosmetics industry’s needs with new bio-natural and Ecocert validated active compounds.

“Aside from the first six compounds developed as standards, we have about 30 compounds ready to develop exclusively for customers who need them,” says Renaud Nalin, LibraGen president. “With their highly diverse biological activities (anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-collagen, anti-aging, etc.), we have the ambition to launch Inoveol ™ compounds on the nutrition market for the mid-term, joining the growing concept of compounds used in In & Out. A second generation of compounds is being created by our labs, and around 2010, will strengthen this extraordinary Inoveol™ collection for our customers’ benefit.”

About LibraGen:
LibraGen is a company specialized in developing innovative bioprocesses for the synthesizing molecules by biocatalysis for the fine chemicals, cosmetics, and nutrition markets and the pharmaceutical industry. One of LibraGen’s strengths is its ability to seek powerful enzymes in bacterial populations until now unexplored and convert them into industrial tools. By integrating the necessary expertise within its technology platform to move up the R & D ladder to the pilot production phase, LibraGen responds to requests from its customers by providing performing and competitive synthesis solutions. Since its founding in 2001, the company’s responsiveness and innovation has allowed it to become the exclusive producer of active compounds for third parties. In parallel to its partnerships with industry leaders, the dynamics of LibraGen’s internal research feeds the company’s pipeline in new active molecules with therapeutic and cosmetic purposes.

Chicago, January 13, 2009 (word count: 512)
At the 2008 AACC International Annual Meeting in Hawaii, CHOPIN Technologies, manufacturer of quality control devices for flour and cereals processing, introduced its latest feature Mixolab System: the Mixolab Profiler. This dynamic quality control tool makes interpreting standard analysis results easier, thus completing the Mixolab System into a three-tests-in-one solution for baking ingredients analysis and testing.

Ensuring a 100% consistency in baking products with a single test, the Mixolab® System helps the producer to define the exact nature of the flours, efficiently control all processes, and guarantees a constant milling quality. This unique analyzer allows, in a single test, a complete measurement of dough performance including effects of protein, starch (native and damaged), fat, fiber, enzymes and the interactions between each of these elements. Easy to use, independent of the operator and environmental conditions, the device is ICC 173-approved and pending AACC certification.

The three different functions that make up the Mixolab System (research, quality control, and testing) allow an interpretation of all or part of the results of the standardized analysis, as required by the operator:

For research, Mixolab Standard provides, in 45 minutes, a complete and detailed characterization of raw materials, including the behavior of the warm dough. Completely adaptable, Mixolab Standard allows, among other things, developing predictive models to anticipate the water absorption, the stickiness, the volume of the finished product, and more. It can also discriminate flours and measure the effect of improvers. Many industrial and international researchers, including Mehmet Tulbek (NDSU), Cristine M. Rosell and Concha Collar (IATA-CSIC), Scott R. Frazer (Cargill), Guohua Feng (Caravan Ingredients), and Hamit Kevser Kahraman Koksel (Hacettepe University), presented their work and various applications using the Mixolab Standard tool at the AACC International Meeting in Hawaii.

For quality control of raw materials, the new Mixolab Profiler is the ideal tool as it enables control, selection, and improvement of the flour based on its intended result. Already recognized by industry professionals for its innovation and ease of use, Mixolab Profiler received the trophy for innovation at the Europain 2008 trade show.

The Mixolab Profiler converts the Mixolab Standard curve into six visible indices graduated from 0 to 9 (Mixolab Index)  for a complete characterization of flour (water absorption, dough resistance, protein/gluten strength,  viscosity hot, amylase resistance, and retrogradation). The user can know at a glance whether the flour meets specifications.

With assignable profiles, it also set limits of acceptability of the flour according to its final use to accept or quickly refuse the flour by comparing its index with the desired profile. The initial configuration offers 16 profiles developed by the CHOPIN Applications Laboratory for flour for baguettes, pan bread, biscuits, pizza, baklava, and more. Finally, if the flour does not meet a profile’s parameters, the Mixolab Profiler suggests modifications thanks to information provided by the accessible Mixolab Guide.

To test the dough, the Mixolab Simulator requires only a small sample to measure water absorption capacity, development time, stability and softening of the dough. It provides standard values to FU (Farinograph Unit) for a full traceability of results and easy communication with Farinograph users.

Cadman Fine Wine sells fine wines by the bottle

January 16th, 2009

Cadman Fine Wines is part of the Venulum Group and is operated by a group of individuals who are passionate about wines and share a combined wealth of knowledge and experience spanning several decades.

Buying wine should be fun and easy and the website is designed to offer the ability to buy wine in what ever quantity desired, whether it’s one or one hundred bottles. It also provides clear relevant information and guidance allowing the user, you, to make an informed choice. The site has already been short-listed by Decanter Magazine, for online wine merchant of the year.

Giles Cadman, founder of Cadman Fine Wines (www.cadmanfinewines.co.uk) and also the Chairman of wealth management group Venulum ( www.venulum.com), a multinational alternative investment company, is passionate about wine and its investment potential. Bringing this fervour to his business, through Venulum’s Bloomberg listed mutual funds, Venulum En-Primeur and Wine investments, offers accredited investors and private pension funds the opportunity to invest in the world’s finest wines.

Cadman also believes that the only wines that can be classified as fine wines are those that come from the Old World and have worldwide recognition. “Fine wines are those that are built on tradition and centuries of history and winemaking knowledge past on from family generations in touch with their soil,” he says, “Wines with a sense of place and standing that have evolved alongside local produce.” He adds that according to Financial Times in an article published in May 2008 “Since 2001, fine wine has significantly out performed the leading equity indices in western markets. Not only has it recorded attractive average annual returns, but price volatility is low compared with most investments”.

At a time where the market has become unstable Venulum has recognised that investors commonly turn to hard assets in market downturns, with the idea that by investing in something real, it won’t disappear although its value may decline modestly, hence the increased interest in the company’s wine investment portfolio

About Venulum:

The Venulum Group is a multinational private wealth management firm headquartered in the British Virgin Islands. The Group manages the wealth of high net worth individuals, and specializes in alternative investments often not available to the general public. Venulum helps high net worth individuals balance their portfolios.

The Venulum Group was formed in 2002, and has expanded to include offices in four countries. Since 2002 Venulum’s client base has grown steadily, and now has a substantial number of United States based clients.

NEW WEARABLE TECHNOLOGIES FROM FRANCE
SLIM AND SMOOTH THE BODY

Photo 2: Drainaflex Slimming Sandal

Chicago, January 12, 2009 (word count: 644)
Two new body-slimming products, the Orescience Slimming Panty and the Drainaflex Slimming Sandal,  boast lab-developed technologies for smoothing skin’s appearence and actually slimming the body. Available from the French company Delta Partners, these scientifically proven items will be at the 2009 International Home + Housewares Show at McCormick Place in Chicago, March 22 to 29 at booth L13260 in the Lakeside Center hall.

The Orescience Slimming Panty is a discrete undergarment incorporating microencapsulation. The microcapsules woven in the textile contain caffeine and rhodysterol (red algae extract) to stimulate fat cell release and reduce water-retention, respectively. When worn, the microcapsules rub against the skin creating a “micro-massage” that frees the active ingredients and deposits them onto the skin. According to a 28-day trial conducted by dermatologists, the Slimming Panty showed to slim hips by 3 centimeters, thighs by 2 centimeters, and reduce the appearence of cellulite by 59%. This hypoallergenic garment comes in four styles: the original mid-thigh-length panty, mid-thigh-length push-up panty, knee-length leggings, and ankle-length workout tights. The Slimming Panty’s microcapsules remain effective up to 20 hand-washes in lukewarm, soapy water. Orescience has a Microcapsule Spray, available separately, that can be applied to the garment to recharge the microcapsules.

The Drainaflex Slimming Sandal is a lightweight sandal designed with a 9-degree negative heel. This angle ensures the calves are stretched and the legs work harder, making stretching and exercise as effective as climbing stairs, but as simple as walking*. The numerous benefits include improved posture and spine alignment, reduced pressure on knees, and stronger legs from increased quadricep, gluteal, and ankle activity when walking. Thanks to molded nodules on the insole, the foot receives a constant massage. The sandal has been proven to show the following improvements, according to a study conducted by a French laboratory: 83% reduction in the appearence of cellulite, 83% reduction in back ache, 100% reduction in leg swelling, and 87% felt slimmer in appearence. Drainaflex is available in a wide range of colors, materials, and open-toe, closed-toe, lace-up, or boot styles. At the end of January, customers worldwide will be able to purchase the Drainaflex sandals at www.deltapartnerstv.com.

* – As with any new exercise routine, it is recommended to wear Drainaflex for limited amounts of time at first, and to increase use as wearing them gets easier.

Photo 1: EMPRIENT Melody bra in black

Chicago, January 12, 2009 (word count: 401)
EMPREINTE, the lingerie brand full-busted women have grown to know and trust, introduces its newest bra: MELODY. This molded sheer lace bra is available up to size 36G. All EMPREINTE bras combine seductive design with incomparable support.

The MELODY bra is  a savvy blend of opaque and transparent, offers the refinement of sheer lace alongside high tech performance. A delicate chain of lace flowers alternates with satiny mesh. Molded to form a seamless cup, the material ensures optimal support, while a satin-covered foam strap provides the ultimate in comfort. A hint of satin trim creates a stunning neckline leading down to the bra’s center made of muslin and satin. This model is available in black, ivory and caramel up to size 36G.

EMPREINTE’s know-how can be summed up in six points:

- The cup material (tulle, lace, microfiber) always holds its shape: 0% spandex guaranteed.
- The back band material retains its shape 100% (compared to 140% for standard materials).
- Thanks to a specially designed pattern, the straps attach to the band in such a way that the middle of the back at the clasp, the straps’ pull, and the side of the bra are perfectly balanced.
- Strap elasticity is reduced to 30% (as opposed to 50% for a standard strap).
- The underwires: closed, they produce a slimming effect from the front, and their thicker-than-standard components keep the bra impeccably in place.
- Strap width/hook height: each band/cup size corresponds to a specific strap width and hook height.

This ready-to-wear lingerie is designed in the spirit of custom fit. Each model is available in 40 band and cup sizes.  EMPREINTE is the only intimate apparel brand to offer such an extensive range of sizes (from 32C to 46G).

The United States and Canada are both major markets for the brand, with steadily increasing demand and largely unsaturated markets. In early 2008, EMPREINTE opened a subsidiary in Quebec, in partnership with its Canadian distributors. EMPREINTE is available in various retail outlets throughout North America. Please click here for locations.

About EMPREINTE:
EMPREINTE first opened its workshops in 1946. The first C cup was produced in 1954, followed by the D cup in 1960 and then the E cup in 1962. The first swimsuit collection was released in 1972. In 1998, the brand went international, and today EMPREINTE is present on markets in Europe, Russia, North America, Australia and Japan.

Venulum Property on the acquisition trail

January 12th, 2009

‘Venulum Property Investments Ltd believes that the market now offers some interesting opportunities as prices fall and yields rise. Venulum have not made any purchases for their mutual funds for over two years as yield compression effectively priced them out of the market. However, they are now looking at several opportunities to invest the cash in their funds.’

The over valuation of the market has priced Venulum Property Investments out of the property market for the last couple of years, as the effect of yield compression and rising rents have moved selling prices ever upwards. Venulum’s strategy is based on creating and adding value in the long term for its clients rather than trading or relying on short term yield fluctuations. “Each mutual fund has strict guidelines on yield and gearing” explains Richard York head of property management “so we have found it very difficult to buy anything that represents value in such an over heated market” he adds.

But with a rapidly correcting market and funding in short supply, Venulum (www.venulum.com/) are finding themselves well placed in a market where purchasers that are not reliant on high levels of debt are placed in very high regard. Giles Cadman, Chairman of Venulum and investment manager for the property funds, says “This is now a wonderful time to be a fund manager. We have not acquired anything for the last two years because we have been waiting for this to happen. The adjustment was long overdue with prices being artificially supported. We have been building up funds to buy sites which match our investment criteria”.

Venulum’s “patch” is a relatively small area in and around Northamptonshire.

They are currently looking at several projects that meet their yield, location and value criteria.

The company acts as property manager for several funds of cash from American investors looking to balance their investment portfolios outside the USA. Pensco Trust Co (http://www.penscotrust.com,) a major US financial organisation, acts as the custodian to the funds allowing investors to use funds from their IRA and 401K retirement portfolios.

“We are very fortunate to have cash available in our funds at a time when the lack of available debt has placed a premium value on investors that can perform” explains Giles Cadman. “Whilst we are sensitive to those who have got into trouble because of cash flow issues, we have the ability to take advantage of prices that we believe will come to reflect extremely good value in five years or so.”

About Venulum:

The Venulum Group is a multinational private wealth management firm headquartered in the British Virgin Islands. Chicago, January 9, 2009 (word count: 549)
New legislation proposed by the French government is making rail transportation a competitive alternative to road transportation of goods, circumventing both road congestion and high fuel costs.   Responding to France’s 2007 Grenelle Environmental Forum, the legislation will increase the percentage of freight not transported by road from 14% to 25% by 2012, and reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2020.

In addition to the deregulation of passenger transportation, European Union authorities have voted for the progressive liberalization of freight transportation, starting with international transportation between member states.

While freight rail connections and infrastructure are managed by the French Rail Network (Réseau de France – RFF), independent operators have been operating in France since 2003. Railway freight transportation has been deregulated since March 31, 2006, and a regulatory railway commission (Commission de Régularisation des Activités Ferroviaires – CRAF) is currently being established to ensure open access for all railway operators.

Private operators have also emerged alongside the traditional national operators in the specialized transport of chemical products, foodstuffs (grains) and bulk loads (cement, gravel and iron). Many new operators are subsidiaries of traditional operators, such as DB Schenker (Germany), Euro Cargo Rail (subsidiary of the British EWSI group), BLS Cargo (Switzerland), CFF Cargo (subsidiary of Swiss railways), CFL Cargo (Luxembourg railways and ArcelorMittal), VFLI (subsidiary of SNCF of France), Veolia Cargo (subsidiary of Veolia Transport), Rail 4 Chem (BASF of Germany), and Europorte 2 (subsidiary of Eurotunnel). These operators are also developing their activities in the part-loads market, which provides an alternative to goods transportation by HGV trucks.

Combined rail/road – or multimodal – transportation is particularly developed in France in the container sector. The transfer of HGV trucks onto rail networks is expanding with the development of wide-load (B+) capacity on major lines and the introduction of specialized rolling stock using traditional technology (German and Swiss rolling roads) or new technology, such as the Modalohr (Lorry Rail) trailer wagon. Classic combined transportation is provided in France by Naviland (formerly CNC) and Novatrans.

These technological developments are supported by major infrastructure works, such as the opening of the Perpignan-Luxembourg rail link and the Swiss AlpTransit project, which will provide better north-south rail links though the Lötschberg and Gotthard transalpine railway tunnels. There will also be additional improved connections across the Alps from north to west and south to east, with wide-load adjacent tunnels between Lyon and Modane. In addition, the planned Lyon-Turin railway tunnel will provide a key link in the European railway transportation network, connecting the regions lying between Barcelona and Budapest.

The French government is aiming to attract flows of freight traffic to new specialized links that connect ports with the surrounding areas by opening up the transportation hubs in ports to the general rail network, and by modernizing the radiating tracks and branch lines. These will be operated by companies that are authorized to run on plain track (including Rail 4 Chem, Veolia and VFLI). The line that connects with the docks at Le Havre is currently being modernized, for example, which will enable users to go by-pass Rouen and the narrow-load Seine corridor, as well as the bottlenecks at the Paris shunting yards.
